Who’s ready for a new Minions adventure?!

Loungefly was lucky enough to be invited to the premiere of Minions and Monsters, so we were some of the first to see this new movie!

Here’s your warning to click away if you don’t want to be swayed before you see it for yourself, cause we’re going to share our thoughts below.

This movie was a really fun installment in the Minions franchise – and truly the perfect summer movie for the whole fam.

The story deviates from the previous Minions movies in that it doesn’t continue the storyline where we left off after Minions: The Rise of Gru. Instead, we get an intro that explains the Minions backstory similarly to the first Minions movie, and we get a new set of Minions to meet and follow the adventures of!

It’s here we meet our trio for the duration of the film: James, Henry, and Ed. James loves to draw and create stories. After attempting to find their next boss, they find themselves at the center of Hollywood and get involved in filmmaking on the Bright Brothers studio lot.

James gets hit with the idea to make a monster film, but there’s one major thing missing: the monsters. So the Minions do what they do best: cause a little chaos and summon a monster from a book of spells their previous boss owned. They summon a monster named Goomi, who offers to help them find more monsters for their film…but Goomi has some ulterior motives…

Their plan to make a movie turns into actually having to save the world from utter disaster from real monsters that want to destroy everything.

But the good news?

While the Minions saved the world, Ed filmed everything with the camera, so they were able to save the world AND make their movie!

A ton more goes on in the film, so you should definitely go see it for yourself if you love the Minions.

We had a blast seeing it. It’s a great move to take the whole family to see. There’s comedy for both the kids and the adults, and the story is a fun new adventure in the world of the Minions. It celebrates old Hollywood but also brings in fun sci-fi elements that feel modern. And it’s a film that you don’t necessarily need the backstory of all the other films to understand, so it’s a great intro for newcomers to the franchise as well.

For those who have seen the previous movies, including Despicable Me, there are very funny post-credit scenes that connect this movie to the main franchise, which we found delightful.

So we definitely recommend this film! We’re here for a Minions summer! Get your ticket and have a monstrously fun time

Also! Since we’re Loungefly, of COURSE we have new styles to celebrate the new release of Minions and Monsters
